I’m very pleased to welcome students and families back for the 2026-2027 school year.

Students will return with stories to share, friendships to renew and new experiences ahead of them. The first days of a new school year bring excitement and a sense of possibility as students settle in and begin another year of learning and growth.

That energy is felt across SD8. Teachers, support staff, principals and vice-principals, bus drivers, custodians and employees throughout the district share in the excitement of a new school year and the opportunity to support students, families and communities. Students are the reason we are here.

Over the next 10 months, SD8 staff will work in partnership with families to build on students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for learning to help each learner thrive. Whether your child is beginning the year in a new classroom, returning to familiar surroundings or logging in to an online course through Elev8-Desk, our staff are committed to creating caring, welcoming and inclusive learning environments.

SD8 remains committed to equity, inclusivity and diversity as reflections of every person’s fundamental human rights. Throughout the year, students and staff will take part in learning opportunities, gatherings and events that help create school communities where students can be seen, heard and celebrated for who they are.

I feel honoured to support SD8 staff as they teach, support and encourage students. Along with our Board of Education, I wish every student and family a wonderful start and a rewarding year ahead.

Warmly,

Trish
