The latest from WEG

Good Morning WEG Families and Happy Monday!

September has been such a busy month!  It's hard to believe that we will be into October next week.  Lots of great things happening around the school!  Last week we held our first PAC meeting.  A special thanks to those who came out in person or virtually.  I know they are always looking for new members so give it some thought!

Last week, our Valhalla Wilderness Program went on their first out trip of the year; camping at Whitewater in Nelson.  The students packed up their gear on Monday and headed out on Tuesday morning and returned Friday.  Mr. Marechal has been teaching this program for over 25 years and even received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Education.  It's a very robust outdoor program and the students had a successful trip.

This week, Ms. Goldie's class is going rafting with Endless Adventure on Thursday, and Madame Rexin's and Madame Gardner's classes are going to Kokanee Creek on Friday to watch the spawning salmon.

Just as a heads-up for next week, there will be no school on September 30 as it a day of remembrance to honour Truth and Reconciliation.  We will have Orange Shirt Day on October 1.  We will be walking down to the river for a special ceremony with local elders.  All are welcome to join!  More details to come out later this week.

Just a friendly reminder to bring in your student fees.  We accept cash, cheque, debit.  Also, all student forms that were sent home last week need to be signed and returned to school.  Thanks!

Wishing you all a wonderful week!
